LSG Statewide Workshop
Student Outcomes Don't Change Until Adult Behaviors Change
Service Description
Collective Leadership Strategies is hosting the upcoming 2-day Statewide Lone Star Governance (LSG) Workshop for governing teams from Texas school systems. This workshop is open to full teams of eight, quorums of a board, superintendent and board chair, or individual superintendents and trustees in need of Lone Star Governance training. This workshop is limited to 30 participants and 15 observers, and space is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The LSG workshop is structured to create the context for adult behavior change by building new knowledge, skills, and mindsets for governing teams (the board and superintendent). This evidence based approach has proven to inspire adult behavior change in school systems across the country. In practice, this looks like: - Creating a safe space in which school board members gain an awareness of the areas in which their governing team is not functioning as intended. - Creating a safe space in which school board members acknowledge the dissonance between their stated values and their lived values—that despite their espoused values, their actions are nevertheless contributing to dysfunction—both individually and collectively. - In the space for action that acknowledgment creates, the workshop provides new evidence around optimal school board behavior (knowledge) and new tools for deploying the behaviors (skills). Board and Trustees will earn credit to satisfy these required trainings... Trustees: • Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes (3 hours) • Framework Hours (10 hours) Board who attends as a Team of Eight: • LSG Certificate • Team of Eight (3 hours) • Team Commendation
